How do I connect to Plato using WebDAV?

ANSWER:

To connect to Plato using WebDAV, use one of the following procedures.

Microsoft Windows Users    Macintosh Users

Microsoft Windows Users

  1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Open from the File menu.
  3. In the Open window type http://plato.mercyhurst.edu/Plato/departmentfoldername/userfoldername/.
  4. Check the box labeled Open as Web Folder and click OK.
  5. Click Yes on the Security Alert dialog window.
  6. In the authentication window, type your Mercyhurst username in the User name field and your Mercyhurst password in the Password field and then click OK. Note: You will need to type "MERCYHURST\" before your username.

You will now have access to your files in the folder view of Microsoft Internet Explorer. In the Internet Explorer folder view you can add, copy, move, and delete files in the directories where you have access. You can drag and drop files and folders between your computer and the directories where you have access. To modify files, they must be copied locally to your computer. After being modified, they can be copied back.

Macintosh Users

  1. In the Finder, choose Connect to Server... from the Go menu.
  2. In the Server Address field type http://plato.mercyhurst.edu/Plato/departmentfoldername/userfoldername/.
  3. Click the plus sign (+) button next to the Server Address field to add the server address to your favorite servers.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Click Continue on the Verify Certificate window.

You will now have access to browse to your files in the Finder. You can modify, add, move, and delete files as if they were on your computer. You will also notice Plato mounted on your desktop.

Note: Mac users must use OS X 10.4 or higher to WebDAV.
